The custom Google site search below
can quickly find
any content Google has indexed on the selected websites of Professionals
in this niche market. |
Google may not index all website pages of such organizations
because of their design, but our market research work in this niche makes
thousands of relevant pages available for quick
reference in a globally consistent way. See our
Suggestions below. |

This custom Google site search tool is provided for
convenient reference by the executives, professional advisors, and economic
development organizations we serve. If you contact
them about their services, please let them know how you found them, and
please let us know if this service was helpful. Relevant
reciprocal links are welcome.
Tip : See Google "Cheat
Sheet" help page for advanced web search features.
The custom Google site search above finds content which
Google has indexed for the specific website of interest, instead of
all the content which Google can find on countless websites. It
is therefore just a small subset of what could be found through a
Google Internet search, limited to particular websites relevant to
this niche. We are also experimenting with other Google services
which may be helpful tools in the future. |
|
This directory remains under development. Professionals at these
or other firms may be
selectively added to the above site search feature or other directories
as appropriate to make it easier to research their relevant capabilities and
take advantage of useful content shared through their websites, such as
thought leadership articles, research reports and case studies or examples
from their client work.
We may also add
other websites selectively on request from the executives and professionals
we serve, since this is intended to be a research tool for their
convenience. The focus is therefore on websites with significant
content other than a basic description of their business.
Note that
corporate real estate firms will generally be listed in the separate
CRE
Search feature. Major corporate strategy consulting firms may also
be listed because of useful content for reference even if they do not have specialists in location
selection services.

Similar search
features by Global Direct Investment Solutions
We have made it
easy to search economic development magazine websites, such as to find
articles on topics of interest in a globally consistent, fast, and easy way.
See our Media Search feature as well
as the fDi Links page.
We have also made it easy to search some of the available
corporate real estate (CRE) property listing services through the very fast
and flexible Google site search feature rather than through standard forms
for database queries by common attributes such as the building size,
location, eave height, etc. This makes it possibly to quickly search
for anything relevant which might be contained in the property listing.
Refer to our CRE Search
feature.
Refer also to the Links section for
other resources. There are more than 25,000 links on our main website,
which can be found easily through the above Google site search just by
selecting the www.gdi-solutions.com
button for Global Direct Investment Solutions. |
Tips about using these custom site search features
The search results, as indicated at left, reflect those pages
which Google has crawled to index the content. This changes over time,
but the list at left provides an initial indication of the volume of content
which may be available to search through these websites.
Not all pages on a website may be indexed. This depends
on a variety of website design factors and search engine processes.
The site search tools provided by the respective websites may
be more comprehensive if they provide access to content which Google does
not index, or very recent content which Google may not have crawled yet.
Since these Google results are the same as those which are available in a
general Google Search of the World Wide Web - but limited to the content of
a specific site - this can also be helpful to test how Google is finding
results for such a site, and how the results of interest would appear to
Google Search users. |
|
We will also make it easy through the "Area
Search" to search the websites of local areas in much the same
way as our USA Search and
Europe Search features make it easy to
search the websites of US state economic development agencies and European
IPAs.
This complements any search capabilities and navigational
links on their websites so that users can seek relevant information quickly
and easily in a consistent way.
The sponsor or participant site to be searched is selected
by a simple "radio button", so that the same Google search can easily be
conducted over several similar websites. |
This feature
complements executive summary Service Profiles, Area Profiles, Biographic
Profiles, and Area Reports
about participating areas or services by making them easy to find quickly
through any such content plus additional content on their own websites. It also highlights sponsors at the
"point of sale" as visitors search for what they want. This includes
website links rather than just the Google site search feature.
Sponsors are also highlighted through the Sponsors,
Locations, Biography,
and Reports pages as well as the
Schedule and through the Service Profiles or
Biographic Profiles of the Professionals who have
participated in Tour events to their locations. |

Suggestions for search users -
we can help you to find what you need
Thank you for your patience while we are in the process of
organizing this feature to more easily research potentially relevant
websites of professional service providers in this niche market.
This is intended to make it easier for executives to check for timely information about their interests on
the websites of these professionals.
|
For example, when looking for information about their
experience in a particular industry sector, location, or type of project or
their capabilities for a particular type of service, this search tool should
make it easy to find such information in a consistent way. The content
of an Area Profile or Area Report, summarizing such things as recent project
announcements, existing businesses, cluster development initiatives, or
target markets may readily indicate that the area may be a viable "long
list" or "short list" candidate. |
|
As another example, the CRE
search provides a very fast and flexible way to check multiple sources
of property listings in a consistent way. This makes it possible to
find anything in a property description which Google has indexed
The results of a Google site search, however, may differ
or not be as complete as a search tool which has been developed specifically
for a particular website. Not all pages on a website may be indexed. This depends
on a variety of website design factors and search engine processes.
Various aspects of website design may cause Google to not
index some content which the local search tool of the website might make
available to visitors. This can be confusing, because even if the site
search within a website is "powered by Google", that local website search
tool may be set up differently by the webmaster and produce different
results than an external search through what Google has indexed on the
website for global distribution.
This sort of inconsistency in search processes and results
can confuse users. We can't control how or why such organizations
restrict the ability of visitors to search their websites for content which
they have charged their clients to make available. Our approach is
simply to make it easy for Google or other search engines to find all the
knowledge which relevant professionals share about their business locations
or services through this channel or their own websites.
These custom search tools can be very helpful tool for a
quick search, and then any search tool unique to the website of interest can
usually complement whatever Google found by the global search results for
that website. As in the case of the above example, the CRE Search may
even find more information on a website than the website's own search tool,
or the Google search process may be more intuitive for users than many
different tools. In some cases, however, Google may also still find
content which is no longer accurate.

At the moment, LocationOne is a good example of this
problem. Contrary to the usual expectations, it may actually be easier
to find relevant properties for an area when entering LocationOne from a
link on the website of a sponsor state or region than by using the site
search feature on the LocationOne home page. These links are designed
to just show the list of properties in the sponsor area, such as a specific
community, county, or region. If you go straight to LocationOne's
website and use the site search feature on their home page - rather than
their database query form - you won't find the listed properties. In
other words, the site search just finds community data on LocationOne - not
property listings.
For example, try going to
LocationOne and look for an industrial
building in Flora, IL through their own "powered by Google" site search tool
on their home page. You will probably find nothing more than some old
community data. Then, try following the link from one of their
regional sponsors,
Southeastern Alliance of Illinois , to look for LocationOne listings of
buildings in the region and community data - including Flora's listings.
In other words, the Google site search on LocationOne doesn't find the
property listings on their website. Try finding out who to contact in
Flora once you find the community data or properties.
Then, use our CRE search feature, look for
"Flora" on the LocationOne website, and you should discover both community
data and a major industrial building listing in Flora. Then, try a
search for "Flora" on
www.gdi-solutions.com , such as through the search
box above, and you will find
Area Survey information about Flora, sharing local knowledge and
contacts about what is available there, as well as the links to SAIL and
other relevant organizations.
The point of this explanation is not to criticize
LocationOne. Presumably the above situation will be fixed at some
point so that the site search tool can actually find the listed properties
on LocationOne. For now, however, it is much easier to find listings
on services such as LoopNet, which is readily searched by Google. By
contrast, a search of CoStar, which is designed to restrict access to
content to brokers, may not turn up as much.

This feature makes it easier to learn about their capabilities and
specialization in more detail than the executive summaries we provide in our
Service Profiles and
Biographic Profiles. Those summaries create easy search paths to
recognize when their services may be relevant. Area Profiles and Area
Reports can do the same thing for business locations.
Suggestions for improvement are welcome. Relevant
reciprocal links are also welcome.
Additional
websites to search may be added. Explanation

search features on this website.
This makes it easy to find most of the content and
25,000+ links to relevant resources worldwide through the hundreds of
